Page Morgan

twitter username

Page Morgan has been intrigued by les grotesques ever since she came across an old, black-and-white photograph of a Notre Dame gargoyle keeping watch over the city of Paris. The gargoyle mythologies she went on to research fed her imagination, and she became inspired to piece together her own story and mythology for these complex stone figures. Page lives in New England with her husband and their three children.

Top 5 Book Boyfriends

Anyone who followed my Twitter account around the time of Megan Shepherd’s debut release might remember how much I fangirled about The Madman’s Daughter. I loved it so hard, and when it ended, it felt like a bunch of soccer players had ground my heart to pulp beneath their cleats. Seriously. Heart pulp, people. One of the reasons why? Montgomery, one of Juliet’s love interests. Montgomery is the silent type who has inner demons and lots of muscles. At least, I think he had muscles. I know my imagination GAVE him muscles, at least. He and Juliet have history, Montgomery having been taken in by Juliet’s crazy mad dad, Doctor Moreau when he was a boy. They have that “should feel like brother and sister but SO don’t feel like brother and sister” thing going on. His deep, protected feelings for his benefactor’s daughter made me want to be Juliet for a little while. You know…when she wasn’t in mortal danger or lost on a creepy island.

4.) Jericho Jones, THE DIVINERS

OK, so I know for a fact that Jericho from Libba Bray’s stunning (and mammoth) historical paranormal thriller has muscles—it’s a part of his story line. Jericho’s character took a little while to start developing but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t intriguing right from the get go. It could have been because of all the muscles. Have I mentioned how much I enjoy muscles? Jericho comes across as a dreadful bore at first, but we eventually start getting glimpses into his shady past and oh boy, is it pos-i-tute-ly intriguing. When his feelings for Evie started to show I could not put the book down. More Jericho please, Libba!

3.) Ash, THE IRON KING series

There is something irresistible about forbidden love, isn’t there? When two characters that shouldn’t be together find themselves drawn to one another despite the odds or risks or what have you, I’m hooked. My favorite example so far is Julie Kagawa’s Iron Fey series. Meghan is the half human daughter of the Summer fey king, and Ash the prince of the Winter fey, and they are so totally not supposed to fall for one another. Ash is cold and deadly from the get go, though the more we learn of him, the more we begin to understand why. However, what I love most about Ash’s character is how he never quite stops being that cold and deadly fey prince. He falls in love with Meghan but he never softens. He remains hard and unyielding and undeniably hot.

2.) Gavin, the Earl of Blackmoor, THE SEASON

I credit Sarah MacLean with opening my eyes to the romance genre. The Season might be her one and only YA novel, but she has penned a number of adult romances since that I’ve fallen in love with. Gavin, the Earl of Blackmoor, was my first Regency-era crush. As Lady Alexandra’s brothers’ friend, Gavin has been more like another frustrating big brother—until, of course, Alex’s first Season. Gavin’s father has just died under suspicious circumstances, making him the new Earl of Blackmoor, something that makes Gavin moody and irritable. I love moody and irritable. And I especially love how he struggles to deny his burgeoning feelings for Alex. The mystery element of the novel isn’t the strongest, but Sarah MacLean has a true gift for deep and thorough characterization. I liked Alex and Gavin so much that I actually re-read The Season—and I don’t usually re-read a book unless it’s something by Jane Austen or Edith Wharton.

I’m sensing a pattern in my book boyfriends. Magnus is a cold, hard prince (like Ash), strong (like Jericho), and irritable (like Gavin) and for good reason—he is suffering from what he thinks are unnatural feelings for his sister. Of course, the reader knows right off the bat that there is absolutely no way Lucia is his sister. Part of the fun is figuring out who and what she really is, and then seeing Magnus react to this newfound knowledge. Magnus has everything to lose if anyone cottons on to what he believes are repulsive feelings for Lucia, and yet he can’t stop himself from loving her. Morgan Rhodes develops her characters like a master, and Magnus is a perfect example of angst and desperation. Out of all the POV characters from Falling Kingdoms, this is the story line I’ll be most looking forward to continuing in the second installment, Rebel Spring, due out in December.

Death & Maria…

I stood staring through the glass partition when I saw that
ginger Empath look up and storm in my direction.  I rolled my eyes and sighed.  Why did I always have to receive abuse from
women?  Civilisations had bowed down to
me in fear and now I couldn’t even scare a stupid Empath!
“What the hell do you think you’re doin?”  She was stood in my way with her hand on her
hips and it was taking all of my self-control not to move her out of the
way.  Jess was obviously feeling elated
because her wings were fully outstretched,
BUSINESS!” I frowned,
“And you can cut that out right now!”  And now the silly woman was pouting and
tapping her foot.  This will not do at
bellowed.  That should have scared her
but I watched in amazement when she looped her arm in mine and turned us
around.  I found myself looking over my
shoulder at Jess kissing her wolf while I was being manhandled by a woman,
“Yadda, yadda, yadda, I know exactly who you are and if you
call me a stupid ginger Empath once more I’m slapping your face.  Oh and you can pack that stupid voice in as
well.  It doesn’t work on me when Jess
does it and it sure as hell won’t work coming from Death, so you can just stop
“Seriously!  When was
the last time you spoke normal?  I’m
betting you didn’t speak to Eve like that, in fact I bet you were all hearts
and flowers before you knocked her up?” she interrupted.  If she wasn’t careful I would judge her right
here.  How dare she speak to me in this
“HOW…”  Heavens above,
she was interrupting me again!  She
stopped and stood in front of me placing her hand on my arm,
“Look cut the crap!  I
can feel how worried you are for Jess so be her father for once and not a ‘know
it all’ celestial being.  Her voice
scares the shit out of her and I’m guessing you had a hand in saving her again
so please try and be normal for her.”
“LOOK…” I coughed.  I
couldn’t believe a stupid ginger Empath was making me change my voice but here
I was doing just that, “…she is my daughter and I couldn’t let her die so I
helped her along a little.  Not that it’s
any of your business might I add!” I sighed,
“The name is Maria by the way, NOT the stupid ginger Empath!  Jess is ok but she will need time to come to
terms with the fact you’re here.  When
Eve died it destroyed her and she’s felt alone ever since.  Deep down she doesn’t even hate you, she
regrets not knowing you and so barging in there isn’t going to do you any
good.  I have no idea what you’re doing
here because Jess isn’t ready and you have incredibly shit timing!” she pouted,
“I am here to protect my daughter from the approaching
darkness and if I go back now Evelyn will have my balls!”  I seemed to have an uncontrollable urge to
talk to this woman and it was annoying.
“Excuse me, Evelyn?” she questioned looking puzzled.  Of course, she wouldn’t know Evelyn was in
the mists with me,
“Yes Evelyn, my wife and Jess’ mother.  She would not be pleased if I simply ran back
home without trying to help our daughter!” I scowled,
“Eve is with you?” she said astonished,
“Yes.  Has anyone told
you that you’re nosey for a crossbreed?” I said raising an eyebrow,
“But she died?”
“Yes indeed she did!”
Maria was starting to try my patience,
“And you didn’t judge her?”
Her voice was sounding an octave higher probably from the shock,
“It was not my place to!”
“Because she was your wife?”
YOU!” I bellowed shacking the light fittings.
I stood in absolute horror when the stupid ginger Empath started
“Oh...sorry…wait…can’t breathe…oh God…smite!” she snorted
and I raised an eyebrow.  It was no wonder
Bunny and Jess liked this woman because she was insane,
“Will you stop laughing?”
Even I was starting to smile,

“I swear if you call me a stupid ginger Empath once more…I
mean it!  You know Eve was my friend and
it was my job to protect her.  I’m now friends
with Jess and if you think I’m gonna let you stroll in there and upset her
after she’s been asleep for six weeks you really have another thing
coming!  You may be a scary Archangel but
you’re also a father and it’s about time you stepped up to your
responsibilities.  I promise you that
once she is a little more stable I will take great pleasure in introducing you
but for now just let her have a little time with the man she loves, please.”

R.M. Bio

R.M. Gilmore is a paranormal and mystery/suspense writer and creator of the irreverent Dylan Hart Odyssey of the Occult series and the groundbreaking Lynnie Russell Trilogy. Both of which were voted top reads of 2012, as well as, bestselling in Irish Mythology, Female Sleuths and Occult genre. A member of Sisters in Crime and devoted Indie author supporter, R.M. uses her time when she is not writing to promote and assist her fellow authors.

R.M. resides in California with her family and a ton of pets. Choosing to behave 'outside the box' R.M. prefers to think and live freely without the constraints of social stigma in life and in writing. That being said, she truly is not your mother's author.

The Books

The Scene (Dylan Hart #1)

Irreverent twenty-something, Dylan Hart, has her little black heart set to cash-in on the blood-drained bodies of seven prostitutes scattered throughout southern California.
In search of the culprit of the media-dubbed Vampire Massacres, journalist Dylan Hart dives head first into L.A.’s sanguinary ‘vampire’ subculture, in an attempt to write her first best-selling novel and pay off her ever growing student debt.
Dylan drinks whiskey, smokes like a chimney, and possesses a mouth she wouldn’t kiss her mama with and with the aid of her statuesque hetero-life-mate Tatum Price, Dylan takes the case head-on, slicing her way through the absurd, the ethereal and the deadly serious, of the underground ‘vampire’ community. But lies and skepticism keep Dylan from the facts hidden within fiction and the danger lurking right under her nose. It’s all shits and giggles until a dead body pops up at your back door.

Endless Night (Dylan Hart #2)

The bitch is back in this second installment of the Dylan Hart Odyssey of the Occult series. The irreverent Dylan Hart, once again, graces us with her presence, this time from down in New Orleans. She has drug along her band of misfit vampires, but this time blood drinkers are the least of her worries. Dylan finds herself entangled in the underground world of blood and lust when she encounters a new, and much more frightening, villain. Voodoo. Who do?

Sacrifice (Dylan Hart #3)

-------> COMING SOON!!! <-------
Dylan has found herself in quite the conundrum...oh shit, who are we kidding?
She's ass deep in death and it's knocking down her door. Literally.
Endless Night left you with your heart pounding and your stomach in your three will flip you upside down and take you on a ride that'll leave your knees quivering and your head lying on the floor...literally.

Becoming (Lynnie Russell #1)

"I'm Sharlene Carolynn Diamond Russell, but most folks around Havana call me Lynnie. I want to tell you about the day a chance encounter changed my life forever. From a few sweet smooches to gut churning transformations, this is the story of the events that led to my Becoming."
Country girl paranormal novella from author R.M. Gilmore (author of the Dylan Hart Odyssey of The Occult series). A new twist on an old classic. Havana, Arkansas isn't exactly the picture of mystics and magic, but Lynnie Russell learns quickly you can't judge a book by it's cover. She discovers myths and legends are alive and well in her tiny little town and she is at the center of it.

Author Interview:

First how are you doing today? Funny you ask – I’m actually kind of stuck in bed at the moment. Aside from blinding cramps (Thank you uterus) I tore a chunk of skin from my leg yesterday while shopping at Lowe’s. I played through the pain for a bit, and should have gotten stiches, but it hurts worse today than yesterday. So, I guess I should warn you this interview is brought to you today by the letter T for Tramadol.
How are your book/books doing right now in comparison to what you hoped? It’s easy to let hopes run wild if you’re not careful. After just over a year since first publishing ‘The Scene’ I’ve release two other novels and a few short stories. Of course I wish they were all doing better – getting the word out is probably the hardest part of writing and publishing, for me anyway.
Most important thing about being a writer? Staying true to yourself. Unless you want to be a millionaire (And really who doesn’t?) writing only for the masses and not for yourself is fairly dull and doesn’t relieve the writing itch. That being said, I love to hear feedback from readers who love my characters as much as I do. Reminds me I’m not a huge freak and there are others out there like me.
Where do you get your inspiration from? Literally everything. ‘What if’…is usually the start of a new story.
How do you cope if you get a bad review? I got a 1-star review once – it sucked. But after reading it for the thirtieth time I realized that the writer of the review wasn’t knocking me as a person or even my writing style – they just couldn’t relate to the character and that was OK by me. I can’t relate with a lot of people doesn’t mean they are bad people they’re just not my people. Same thing goes for books – doesn’t mean they are bad books they’re just not the right book for that reader.
Occupational hazards of being a writer? Caffeine overdose. Sore back. Red eyes. Alcoholism. Wait, maybe that’s just me.
What book or film character would you say you were most like? My friends used to call me Anya – like the ex-demon character from Buffy – because I have no social filter.
What makes you laugh? A lot of stuff that probably shouldn’t.
Which has been the hardest to write? Romance and sex scenes. I hate to read it so writing it doesn’t go over well. I’ve been asked a lot when my character Dylan Hart is going to get laid and I have to say I don’t know. Unless it is detrimental to the story line it probably won’t happen because I loathe writing romance so much.
Any hints as to what lies ahead for your characters? Most are curious about the Dylan Hart series and the characters within so I’ll stick to that. As of right now, book 3 in the works, things are starting to spin out of control. Dylan is realizing there’s more than meets the eye in this universe and she’s ass deep in it. Relationships are changing and evolving, Dylan herself is evolving with each story losing more and more of herself and the little bit of humanity she has, secrets are revealed, and a new adventure unfolds to take us into BOOK FOUR!!!
Favorite character? Favorite book character right now (Not by me) is probably Violet Parker from the Ann Charles Deadwood series. But I reserve the right to change that often and at any moment. My personal favorite character to write, easiest and most fun, would be Dylan.
Least favorite? Least fave character of mine to write is Malcolm McTavish – Dylan’s feelings toward that ginger douche are really my own portrayed through her. I don’t know why I have such a distaste for him – he came out of my head – but I really can’t stand him. Of books I’ve read I have to say right now I HATE Ray Underwood from the Deadwood series he’s such a tool.
Which character would you like to meet in real life? Dexter Morgan – don’t ask.
Interview question you want to answer but no one has ever asked? 38D – oh, no? Ok, ummm….yes, but I didn’t inhale. Ok, maybe I did.

Your favorite authors? Shel Silverstein, old Steven King new stuff kind of lost me, always on the lookout for more.

Favorite book right now? Deadwood series – but looking for something new since I’m waiting for book 5.

What genres of books do you read? Thriller, Mystery, Paranormal, pretty much anything but romance.

How do you feel about your fan base?  I effing love those bitches. At some point I will make it across country to tour and such and will make it a point to hold any signings at local pubs so I can have a drink with each and every one of those little book whores.
Did you ever dream you would become an author? No. Before I turned twenty-three I wanted to be an artist. In high school I wanted to move to the Bay Area and live in a loft and be a ‘starving artist’ or become a special effects guru and make gruesome ghouls for horror flicks. Even when I started writing ‘The Scene’ it was just something fun to do. It wasn’t until the book started taking shape and I allowed others to take a look that I realized I should actually finish it. Well, I was told I’d better by those who needed to know how it ends. It kind of went from there. Now all I think about is writing. Everything and everyone I come in contact with is a potential story.
Best thing about your author journey so far? Bad ass bitches. Meeting killer book people – authors and bloggers and readers alike – getting a chance to be a part of something bigger than me and my little books.

If there was one thing you wish you could explain to readers about the way writing a book works (as in not written to upset the reader) what would it be? It takes time. Some authors whip out a handful of books a year – some do it well and some don’t – for a lot of authors it takes time to put it all down in a way that makes sense to the rest of the world. We know, for the most part, where this tale has to take a reader in order to bring them to the next journey. In other words, it takes time for the end to justify the means.
Random questions -

Do you have any weird quirks you'd like to share with the public? :) No – but I will. I don’t like chocolate and I hate odd numbers. I look at peoples teeth before any other part of their body and I hate Shirley Temple with a fiery passion. I obsessively buy flour (oddly think I’m running low, forgetting about the five bags in the freezer) and am so terrified of birds I was once stuck in my car for 15 minutes because it was surrounded by sparrows.
Favorite color? I actually don’t have one but I really like patterns.
Favorite food? I eat bread and butter pickles from the jar and cannot survive a day with a diet Coke.
Do you collect anything? Or have any specific interests? The hubs and I love penguins and snag unique penguin swag whenever possible. We are also huge Lego fans – I have the Monster Fighters collection – the Haunted Mansion took 7 hours to build.
Best memory as an adult? Putting the cliché childbirth and wedding out of the way - because, well, duh – my best recent memory is receiving a review for ‘The Scene’ that compared Dylan Hart to Anita Blake. My lady boner lasted longer than four hours - but I didn’t consult a doctor. I’m a rebel like that.
Is there a person, alive or dead, you dream about meeting if you could? Elvis.

DIRTY Images for sharing and giggles - Don't like it? Don't use it.

Isis can control her dreams. Or she could-until recently. The creature in her nightmares has been haunting her for months. As if being dumped wasn’t bad enough, now she dreads going to sleep. She decides to confront the creature and win back some of her peace; only, she finds that he’s not a monster and he’s not a dream.

A sacrifice for love, a shocking discovery and a jealous ex-boyfriend blur the lines between reality and dreams, making it hard to tell who the real monsters are.

Who would’ve known…that sometimes love is lethal?

Website / Goodreads / Facebook / Twitter

1. Tell us 5 words to describe Creatura.
Love Story, Thrilling, Surprising, Different, Intoxicating

2. Which was the main reason you started writing it?
I started writing out of boredom and took it up as hobby. I had enjoyed writing when I was younger and decided that this was something that only required my imagination and my computer.

3.How do you see your future as a writer?
I try to stay positive about new doors being opened for me as a writer even though there is a lot of competition in the literary world. But for now, I will to continue writing for you and the rest of the YA reader out there and hope for the best in my future.
4. Do you find yourself reflected in any of the characters? In which one and in what way?
I find myself relating mostly to Nyx and Claire because they are both mothers and like to cook. They take care of their families and are ready to defend their children like a lioness.
5. Tell us one favourite book you've read or you want to read (except yours , of course, hihi!)
I really want to read a lot of books, but one that has caught my eye recently is “Obsidian” by Jennifer L. Armentrout.
6. My interview ends here so I invite you to say something for my readers and your fans (or future fans).
I’d like you all to know that your support and your interest in “Creatura” overwhelm me. I never expected such a warm reception when I first published my book, especially not from people outside the U.S. I thought for a long time that no one would take interest in my novel. But now, to know that it will soon be in a country as beautiful as Romania and read by its people that are equally or more beautiful, gives me inspiration to write. Thank you for being a part of my world and a huge part of motivation.

1.Can you tell our readers a few details about you? Where you were born? Do you have any brothers? Where have you spent your childhood?
I was born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico on December 9, 1974 (yes, I am old. LOL!) I have one brother who is six years younger than me and one sister who is 16 years younger than me. Although I was born in Mexico, I have lived in Texas since I was an infant.
2.What was your favorite game as a child?
I used to like to play “make-believe” or pretend with my cousin. He would pretend he was my pet monkey or dog and I would treat him like an animal. LOL! It sounds very mean now, but it was a fun game. I was only four-years-old, then.
3.How did you spend your time, as a child, and later, as a teenager? Did you love hanging out with friends, going on a concert or staying at home, writing and reading?
When I was a kid, I loved hanging out with my best friend and my cousins. We would play with our dolls or play outside. During my child hood I loved to read, but it would put me to sleep.
Later, in my teen years, I liked going to the movies and to the mall with friends and talking on the phone or watching television. I wasn’t much of a party animal. My parents were very strict, so I wasn’t allowed to be out too late. I would sometimes go to football games on Friday nights with my cousin and some friends. I didn’t write much when I was a teenager. I would imagine a lot stories and knew someday, when I had the time and was older, I would write them. Since I had so much reading to do for school, I never really read books for pleasure. Shame on me.
4.Who was/is your life model?
I don’t think I have one because I admire different things from different people.
5.Do you love animals? If yes, do you have any pets?
I like animals, but I cannot have any in my home because we are all allergic to them.
6.What place in this world would you love to visit most? You travel a lot?
I would love to visit the entire world. I cannot commit to telling you that I would prefer one place over the next because there are so many beautiful things to see everywhere. I don’t travel very much – maybe, once a year.
7. What’s your favorite place for writing/reading?
My office.
